Jody Heckenbach Yoga Instructor
Education/Certifications: I began my practice of yoga in 1971 while traveling and living at various Yoga Ashrams in the United States. My practice continued and eventually I became certified to teach under master teacher Erich Schiffmann. My ongoing participation in advanced workshops has allowed me to study and interact with many of yoga's legendary teachers including Shiva Rea, Angela Farmer, Rod Stryker, Rodney Yee, who have enhanced and influenced my teaching style which is Iyengar based, incorporating vinyasa flow of asanas (postures).
Area of Specialization: I focus on personal exploration and self-discovery through alignment and breath awareness, emphasizing the process rather than the attainments of doing yoga. It’s about being in the moment while exploring and experiencing one’s physical, mental, emotional and spiritual being.
Philosophy on Exercise: My classes are strengthening, invigorating and calming. Keeping the body flexible, circulation healthy and breath regulated are vital components to the overall state of well-being. Beginners to advanced students are encouraged to join.
About me: Dancing, yoga, running, hiking, being out in nature, reading, studying the history and beliefs of various cultures, especially Eastern Philosophy...creative expression of all types!
