Certification/Education: Mad Dogg, Johnny G Spinning; B.A. in Literature, Yale University; M.A. in English Literature, Rutgers University
Area of Specialization: I began to teach indoor cycling classes eight years ago, in preparation for my first Ironman triathlon in Lake Placid, NY. I’ve also completed the
Ironman in Coeur d’Alene and the Wildflower half-Ironman five times. Swimming is actually my first love, but cycling has become my favorite sport thanks to spin and Lance Armstrong.
Philosophy on Exercise: I’m going to borrow from Nike on this one: Just do it, even if you’d rather watch “So You Think You Can Dance.” You can DVR a television
show; you can’t DVR a workout. Exercise is like breathing, sleeping, eating: a basic need. Fun and funky music helps. (P.S. Spinning is not just for intense endorphin junkies--it’s for everyone!)
About me: I am fortunate that I have the opportunity not only to teach in an athletic setting here at LGF but also in an academic setting right next door at Los Gatos High School, where I teach AP English and Film and Literature. In addition to all things sporty and outdoorsy, I love books, movies, card games, and road trips to Cambria.
