"Spin classes are a first rate way to get high quality aerobic exercise without suffering the beating you can get from high impact running or other activities. Each instructor uses music to help establish pace and rhythm, and puts their own touch on every class to keep the program interesting. From flats to jumps, hills to sprints, in and out of the saddle, you can choose the level of effort that you are ready for and make it your own. Take it at a lighter pace or challenge yourself to keep up with the instructor, whichever is right for you. You don't have to be a racing cyclist to do this; I'm certainly not, and no one expects you to be. Every class has a broad range of ages, physical conditions and abilities. Over the last year, I have made spin class my principal source of aerobic exercise to help me increase my cardio vascular health and lose weight. And it's working! – Dana T.
